In the Modern Art Gallery, the works of Jenő Barcsay and Pál Deim come together, and in the Castle Gallery, Ottó Fenyvesi’s collages conjure the spirit of rock and roll.

Now in its eleventh edition, the Mirror – Face to Face exhibition series has become a well-known and highly regarded international event in the field of contemporary printmaking.

Over the years, in addition to the regular participation of Italian artists, many international artists have presented their work in Vicenza, showcasing some of the most significant directions in contemporary graphic art. This year, Hungary is the featured guest— a country whose history is deeply intertwined with Italian cultural and artistic traditions.

Mirror – Face to Face thus becomes a reunion of old friends, set in a Europe that, at the dawn of the digital and artificial intelligence era, is striving to redefine its identity. >>>

ENIKŐ CZIGÁNY – UNDER THE SKY, ABOVE THE EARTH

You’re not mistaken if Enikő Czigány’s images featuring geometric patterns seem familiar. A quick search using your phone’s image recognition app might reveal that her ink drawings simultaneously evoke the artificial landscapes captured by satellite technology and the natural transformations of the Moon as seen with the naked eye.

It’s well worth visiting this two-level exhibition at the Granary of the Dubniczay Palace, especially as it marks Enikő Czigány’s debut at the House of Arts Veszprém. >>>

GÁBOR KITZINGER – BURNOUT BULBS: NOISEBOX

Noisebox is a living instrument—an audiovisual spatial installation brought to life not by quiet contemplation, but by noise, rhythm, and play.

At the heart of the space, an analog drum kit awaits the visitor: each strike releases raw energy that instantly transforms the visual and sonic atmosphere of the environment. In this way, the viewer becomes a co-creator, turning the gallery into a joyful playground—or a swirling cosmic vortex.

Gábor Kitzinger’s (Kiégő Izzók/Burnout Bulbs) work can be both experienced and interacted with at the f|x|r gallery until September 14. >>>

The Colors of Japan exhibition and accompanying book is a unique fusion of photo book and cultural guide. It is not a traditional travel manual, nor a collection of online tourist tips, and certainly not a “casual guide.”Through the eyes of a European photojournalist and an art historian, we explore the natural and cultural heritage of Honshu, Japan’s largest island.The photographs by Csaba Toroczkai are accompanied by the narratives of Bernadett Grászli, offering a rich, multilayered experience of Japan beyond the surface. >>>

László Vass, Honorary Citizen of Veszprém, is well known among lovers of culture. His internationally renowned collection of contemporary art has been enriching Veszprém’s cultural life for over two decades. A master shoemaker by trade, László Vass has also earned global recognition through his Budapest-based workshop, which has been a respected name in the international fashion world for nearly fifty years. Vass Shoes is considered one of the leading brands among the highest-quality, traditionally handcrafted shoemakers. >>>

Ágnes Kulcsár was born in Veszprém and has lived here ever since. She graduated from the Secondary School of Visual and Applied Arts in Budapest, specializing in decorative painting. Alongside her drawing studies, she also learned the techniques of fresco, secco, sgraffito, mosaic, and stained glass art. >>>

TEGULARIUM
Dubniczay Palace

The Tegularium is one of the coolest spots in Veszprém—highly recommended during a heatwave (and any other time too!).

In January 2023, the Tegularium / Brick Collection reopened at the Dubniczay Palace with a refreshed concept and newly added pieces. Since 2006, this unique collection has found its home in the palace’s cellar system, extended into a 16th-century cannon bastion—a truly exceptional exhibition space.

The exhibition presents tools, materials, and illustrations related to brick and tile production from the Roman era to the late 20th century, featuring glazed and stamped building materials, historical roof tiles, and various traditional manufacturing techniques. >>>

VASS SHOE COLLECTION – PERMANENT EXHIBITION ON THE HISTORY OF SHOEMAKING

The Shoe Collection offers a glimpse into the secrets of a vanishing craft through the presentation of classic footwear.

By showcasing the intricate steps and professional techniques involved, the exhibition illustrates how a VASS shoe—a high-quality product still highly regarded in contemporary fashion—is crafted using traditional shoemaking methods. >>>
