The BotanicArt – Oasis series explores gastronomic culture from a new perspective, this time presenting flavours and culinary experiences through the lens of cinema. In the new series, international feature films introduce gastronomic phenomena, special ingredients and food traditions. The inspiration drawn from these films is then brought into everyday life.

The Lunchbox
(Hungarian title: Ezerízű szerelem, 2013, 1 h 44 min)

Dabba – lunch, Indian style. A home-cooked meal is prepared by the housewife and then delivered across half the city to working family members by a dabbawala (literally: “one who carries the box”). Evoking the unique world of Mumbai (formerly Bombay), we explore Indian spice culture.

In our new series, invited guests present the everyday life and unique culture of cities they have discovered. They share exciting experiences and favourite dishes they enjoyed during their travels. During the evening, one of the shared “gastro memories” will be selected and tasted together.
