Károly Klimó (b. 1936) is one of the most consistent inheritors of the intellectual legacy of the Hungarian Neo-Avant-Garde and the European School. His art brings together the gestural language of Informalism and the expressive force of the Central European Neue Wilde movement, shaped by a distinctive narrative vision inspired by literature.
His paintings, prints, collages and assemblages move along the boundary between figuration and abstraction, imbued with melancholy, irony and a spirit of intellectual playfulness.

For Klimó, the image is not merely a visual representation but a space for thought. Drawing inspiration from the works of Kafka, Artaud, Sade and Thomas Bernhard, he explores the extremes of human existence. His carefully constructed compositions evoke both theatrical scenes and inner psychological landscapes. The exhibition offers a sensitive insight into an oeuvre in which literature, philosophical reflection and painterly gesture form an inseparable whole.
