Ottó Fenyvesi"Feedback and Collapse" Collage Exhibition

In everyday language, we often use the term feedback, yet the deeper meanings and mechanisms behind it frequently remain hidden. Feedback is an essential part of the communication process, enabling the sender of a message to receive information about how the message was received, what effect it produced, and whether any correction is needed.

The word collapse derives from the Latin collapsus, meaning “falling together” or “collapse”, itself originating from the verb collabi (“to collapse”). In medicine, collapse generally refers to a sudden and severe condition in which the body is unable to maintain basic vital functions such as blood pressure or breathing.

Ottó Fenyvesi (1954, Gunaras, Bačka, Yugoslavia) studied at the Department of Hungarian Studies at the University of Novi Sad and later in Communication and Media Studies at the University of West Hungary. His diploma thesis, “The Walls Speak”, explored graffiti and street art.

Between 1975 and 1991, he worked as a DJ and editor at Radio Novi Sad. He has also worked as a journalist and editor of literary journals and television programmes. His first poetry collection was published in 1978, and he is the author of fifteen books. He is a member of the Society of Hungarian Authors and the Hungarian Writers’ Association.

He has been creating collages since 1981. His solo exhibitions have been presented in Veszprém, Budapest, Szeged, Balatonfüred, Novi Sad, Topolya, and Chicago.

In 2015, upon the recommendation of the József Attila Circle and the Association of Young Writers, he was awarded the József Attila Prize in recognition of his literary achievements.
