Her work
Mar Vicente sees her own work as a continuous experimentation, which she finds its roots in painting. The impact of her work goes far beyond the physical realm of painting. Her aim is to explore the physical and theoretical (conceptual) boundaries of painting and to explore the spatiality of the work. She transforms the traditional two-dimensional panel painting into a three-dimensional one.
She uses simple, regular geometric forms to achieve the desired visual effect and spatial experience. Her reduced colour palette features primary colours - red, yellow, blue - complemented by green. White serves as a reflective surface and highlights subtle shades. In her three-dimensional works and spatial installations, she uses light, shadow and colour to create the experience of moving through space.
The physical boundary of the picture frame is not the same as the boundary of the artwork created.
