The Veszprém Spring Exhibition, which opened in Dubniczay Palace is a series of art and crafts exhibitions that is recognised at national level. Its important mission is to present not only artists from the city of Veszprém, but also from Veszprém County and the region associated with the Veszprém - Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023 project.
The works on display in the group exhibition are the result of an art competition launched last year. The professional jury was composed of Katalin Izinger, art historian of the Szent István Király Museum in Székesfehérvár, which organises the Fejér County Exhibition 2022, and Gabriella Shah, art historian and director of the Dornyay Béla Museum, which presents the Salgótarján Spring Exhibition and the National Drawing Biennale in Salgótarján. The jury, experienced in the organisation of large-scale art exhibitions selected 152 works by 109 exhibiting artists from 456 entries submitted by 162 applicants. We were delighted to welcome back several former participants and prize winners.
Each year, the opening of the Spring Ex hibitionwas also a time of joyful personal contact. This year we can be together under the obligatory precautions due to the epidemic situation, but we would like to encourage all artists and art lovers to visit Veszprém and discover the fine and applied arts that fill the exhibition spaces of the Dubniczay Palace.
At this point it is also important to remember the outstanding artists we have lost in recent months. The exhibition will also commemorate painters Tibor Kádár, György Katona, József Gombor and Munkácsy Prize-winning sculptor Gusztáv Pálfy, with a presentation of one of their works.
