Csikász Gallery
The exhibition Propeller I (lat.: propellere "to drive") marked the start of a regular biennial in 2019, which aims to reflect on the current state of art in Austrian higher education institutions. How do young artists work in the fields of photography and new media?

On the one hand, FOTOGALERIE WIEN wants to make the students' work visible to a wide audience, and on the other hand, it wants to give students the opportunity to get to know the exhibition practice better.

The PROPELLER Biennale 2023 will be complemented by Hungarian entries, and the exhibition will also be shown at the Austrian Cultural Forum. This will be the first time that the PROPELLER Biennale will be expanded into a cross-border cooperation, jointly organised with the Budapest Photo Festival and the House of Arts Veszprém, to showcase the work of young Austrian and Hungarian students. A dialogue - an exchange of ideas.
