László Lakner strikes a delicate balance both literally and metaphorically between unity and diversity. His painterly monochromy can be seen as one strand of a polyphonic and polychrome oeuvre. And by juxtaposing different styles, 'colours' and concepts of painting such as realism and figuration, he explores the means and possibilities of painting - he paints painting itself.
