His cool, subdued paintings are characterised by realism and surrealism associated with Salvador Dali. His paintings are concerned with philosophical problems and abstract moral questions. Symbolic references to current issues and problems are important to him.
Lajos Horváth acquired the artistic "technique" with talent and diligence and his works are influenced by great predecessors such as Caravaggio and Magritte. His works speak of respect for artistic heritage and the problems of the contemporary world. His work in art education in Pápa and Alsóörs is also significant.
In addition to numerous group exhibitions he has shown his work in solo exhibitions in Pápa, Veszprém, Tihany, Budapest, Uden, the Netherlands and Los Angeles.
In addition to private collections his works can also be found in the Laczkó Dezső Museum in Veszprém and the Hungarian National Gallery.
