István Zachar was born, lives and works in Veszprém.
He started his studies at the Visual Workshop (W:I:M) in Veszprém, as a student of László Hegyeshalmi and Tibor Kádár. Then he graduated from the Eszterházy Károly Teacher Training College in Eger, majoring in geography and drawing. His masters were Péter Földi and Péter Balázs. Initially he exhibited his traditional graphic works. Since 2001 he has been working with computer graphics.

He had several solo exhibitions in Eger, Veszprém, and his works were also shown in Salgótarján. He regularly participates and is invited to regional and national group exhibitions. He is a regular participant of the National Drawing Biennale in Salgótarján and the Veszprém Spring Exhibition, where he has been awarded several prizes for his works.
He is a member of the V8+ group.
