"The book introduces the reader to the life of a town, the dreams, the everyday life, the decision-making borderline situations of the citizens of the town of the Queens, a town in the Bakony Valley. It tries to do all this while remaining within the framework of past, future and present, but the fate of its heroes is sometimes taken into the hands of forces outside history, or forces that are resistant to history. An odd but not unusual participant in the novel is a viaduct, which is not a symbol, but sometimes throws itself into the plot of the novel by forcing its intervention... We are then the deceived farmer, the deceived woman, the orphaned girl, the apprentice poet from the countryside, the lorry driver or even Nazim, the Turkish cavalry officer who has come from history. We hope the reader will not be uncomfortable in such company."
