"I left the places where everyone is going, I guess our skin, the skin of our fate is a cruel place, perhaps the cruelest place that - no exceptions - we have to walk. For our skin's sake, but not in fear of our skin. I've been a scarecrow, a Gothic plough, Kelemen Kőmőves and his lady, an Attic adventuress and a Scythian horseman crossing Ister. Some of the bridges on the Danube in Pest evoke a time in which I lived; the same times are also in the poem, although synchronicity has been the world of prose for quite a long time..."
