Exhibiting artists: sculptor Kaisu Koivisto (Helsinki); ceramist Outi Särkikoski (Joensuu); textile artist Riitta Turunen (Varistaival)
All three artists in the exhibition explore the special relationship between human and nature in the North and their interaction with a delicate feminine sensibility.
Outi Särkikoski is a frequent guest in Hungary, she has been a regular participant of the Kecskemét International Ceramics Studio for almost a decade and has made some of the works exhibited here.
Sculptor Kaisu Koivisto says of her work, "I am inspired by the harsh wilderness of the north and the effects of human activity in the environment. For this reason my work is more about human than nature: the transformation of nature into commodities, products, the production of raw materials and the symbolic and allegorical aspects of animals. My work has its roots in the realm of zoos, science fiction and domesticated animals."
Textile artist Riitta Turunen exhibited a series of thin embroidered tulle shawls inspired by her mother's embroideries. The decorative motifs depict Finnish wild flowers.
