FOTOTAXIS 3.
Launched in 2019 at the Csikász Gallery in Veszprém and held every two years since, the thematic exhibition series FOTOTAXIS will be staged for the third time in 2025. Its aim is to provide a platform for the most compelling works of young, recently graduated photographers as well as established artists of the contemporary photographic scene. The invited exhibitors explore some of the most pressing and increasingly alarming phenomena of our times: the biological body, nature, the Anthropocene, possible future forms of collective memory, posthuman and speculative so-called alternative realities, and the diverse technologies associated with them. Equally important—through self-reflection—is an inquiry into the radically changing role of photography and the technical image in the age of artificial intelligence and generative realities. While the previous, widely acclaimed selection No/Body/Nem/Test focused on contemporary representations of the female body through the works of women photographers, the upcoming 2025 exhibition turns to the technical and technological challenges of the fixed image.
Techno/Topia
Futures of the Technical Image
“PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN.”
In the 21st century, our modes of visual perception are shaped to an unprecedented extent by technical image-making and recording devices: cameras of every kind, drones, satellites, generative AI software, and systems capable of producing images in countless ways. Through selected artistic practices, the exhibition explores how the technical image reshapes our notions not only of reality, but of the image itself—how it creates its own utopias and dystopias. Techno/Topia examines both the dynamic transformation of perceivable reality by image technologies and the power structures, flaws, and distortions embedded in images. From now on, what do we call an “image”? Whose dream, and whose nightmare, is this new visual world?
Exhibitors:
Csilla Kőműves, Richárd Kiss, Viktor Varga – Lilla Váczi, Balázs Deim, Dávid Bíró, Emese Toldi, Levente Ákos, Domonkos Tamás Németh.
The invited artists are graduates of MOME, METU and MATE, and members of FFS.

We will seek answers to questions such as:
Join us at the Tegularium in Veszprém on 21 September to discover how the fired brick became one of the most fundamental elements of Hungary’s architectural heritage!
